Olive oil is a natural edible oil obtained by pressing olives, native to the Mediterranean region where it has been a staple for thousands of years. It comes in different grades — extra virgin, virgin, and refined — with extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) being the least processed and richest in flavour and nutrients.
Nutritional Profile:
Olive oil is composed almost entirely of fats, predominantly monounsaturated fats such as oleic acid, which may help support heart health. A tablespoon typically provides mainly healthy fat and also contains small amounts of vitamin E and vitamin K, along with trace minerals.
